Heroes Of The Revolution

We've blogged before about the limits to taxation. 69 year old Josephine Rooney is the latest Council Tax refusnik to get banged up for her beliefs:

"This is not about me. It’s about the taxpayer being ripped off. I’ve had to witness such misery over the last six years, and I see how public money is being squandered."

Hear hear, Miss Rooney.

Council tax has soared on average by 91 per cent over the past decade, outstripping the 29 per cent increase in the average pensioner’s income. Last year Sylvia Hardy, 73, from Exeter, served a seven-day sentence, and the Rev Alfred Ridley, 71, from Towcester, Northamptonshire, spent 28 days behind bars.
